PetSafe Basic vs Stubborn Dog In-Ground Fence

Both PetSafe kits use a transmitter, a continuous boundary wire and a receiver collar. The first choice is the receiver supplied: the Basic kit comes with the Deluxe UltraLight receiver, and the Stubborn Dog kit comes with the Super Receiver Collar. Measure your planned wire route and check collar fit before choosing.

Basic and Stubborn Dog kit comparison

Basic In-Ground Fence · PIG19-16412

The Basic kit comes with the Deluxe UltraLight receiver and 150 m of wire. That encloses about 1,300 m² (0.13 ha) in a square-loop example; an irregular layout or extra wire run to the transmitter can reduce the usable area.

Stubborn Dog In-Ground Fence · PRF-3004WX-20

The Stubborn Dog kit comes with the Super Receiver Collar. Measure your proposed loop and check the manual and contents for the exact WX kit before calculating coverage.

Both systems can use the PIG19-10764 Deluxe UltraLight or PIG19-10763 Stubborn Dog extra receiver. Check fit and power requirements for the collar you choose.

Plan the loop before installing it

Sketch the route from the transmitter and back. Measure the full run, including any sections that do not contribute to the enclosed garden area. Test the loop and collar response before burying the wire. Follow the kit instructions to train your dog around the marked boundary. A wired system depends on a functioning loop and training; it is not a physical barrier.

Choose parts by system and receiver code

Use the PRFA-500 wire and flag kit for a compatible extension or reroute. Battery type depends on the receiver fitted. Check the model compatibility guide and the PetSafe containment receiver compatibility chart (PDF). Browse in-ground pet fences.
